Job Specification:

Qualification and experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with at least a second division or equivalent, and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong understanding of child safeguarding principles, national child protection laws, and child rights.
  • Experience in providing psychosocial support and referrals to clinical services, with the ability to guide counsellors in psychosocial interventions.

Skills and competencies:

  • High ethical standards, confidentiality, emotional resilience, and a child-centered approach.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work respectfully with children and young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a positive and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Nepali, along with proficiency in computer applications.
  • Prior experience working directly with children and young people will be an added advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to various programme locations across Nepal.

 

 

Job Responsibilities :

The child and youth safeguarding officer will support the national child and youth safeguarding focal person in strengthening child safeguarding systems and processes across SOS Children’s Villages Nepal. S/he will contribute to the organisation’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of children and young people who are directly and indirectly supported through its programmes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of child safeguarding related concerns in line with child and youth safeguarding policy and regulation of the organisation and national law.
  • Regularly update data collation and documentation systems, contributing to internal reporting processes, including monthly progress updates.
  • Support the national child and youth safeguarding focal person in coordinating timely and appropriate responses to safeguarding concerns.
  • Track the progress of child safeguarding initiatives and interventions ensuring alignment with official directives and protocols.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to programme-level counsellors on safeguarding issues, promoting best practices and adherence to national child protection frameworks.
